Wakefield charity welcomes move to tackle 'period poverty'

A Wakefield charity has told Ridings FM it hopes 'period poverty' will soon be a problem of the past.

The Red Box Project donates free sanitary items to schools and has already supported 31 across the district.

The government recently announced it will fund free products for primaries and secondaries from next year - something the organisation has welcomed.

"Children will now have access to period products. They will be able to be used - helping to fight this problem and make it a thing of the past", Coordinator, Louise Brown said.
