A New Community Is Going To Be Built On Land To The East Of Wakefield City Centre.
Company Keyland Developments have secured planning permission to create 2500 houses as well as a business hub, a primary school and health facilities.
It is also expected to create around a thousand jobs.
Council Leader Denise Jeffery told Ridings FM: "It's brilliant news. This site has been derelict ever since the water authority left the site.
"There will be some sort of retail and restaurants coming along as well, so it will be a new centre."
