Hopes of an economic boost as Glasshoughton link road is approved

A new link road for Glasshoughton will help bring more economic growth to the area, according to a local councillor.

The six million pound route was approved by the West Yorkshire combined authority yesterday.

It will provide a more direct route to the leisure and retail area from Wakefield and Normanton, reduce congestion and improve accessibility.

Councillor Matthew Morley said: "We have seen quite a lot of house building in Castleford over the last couple of years but I think we needed more jobs creating in the area - and I think this will be brilliant [in doing that]."
