HS2 could cause significant environmental damage across Yorkshire

Yorkshire's Wildlife Trust is warning of the amount of environmental damage HS2 will cause to our area.

The organisation's report outlines the scale of destruction the high speed rail scheme could have on nature - suggesting it will lead to the extinction of some local endangered species.

A spokesperson for HS2 said the number of sites 'at risk of loss' in the report 'simply isn't accurate'. They also claim the project will help cut the number of cars on the roads and reduce carbon emissions.
