Hosted by the Ackworth Race Group, this Summer will see the return of the Ackworth Pram Race, a much loved family fun event through the streets of the village.
We are delighted that this event is returning to the village to raise funds for The Prince of Wales Hospice. There is still chance to enter a team!
The annual pram race was a firm favourite every year during the 1970's and was traditionally held at Easter.
There were regularly 30 prams taking part, each with a 2 man team - one lucky rider and one being the pusher!
Hundreds of spectators lined the streets to watch the event and, interestingly, each pit stop involved drinking a pint of beer!
You can see locals Steve Ward (riding) and Eric Lamprey (pushing) in the gallery below as they took part in this historic event one year. Both are looking foward to it's revival and would encourage everyone to give it a go.
