Mariano leaves Rovers

Frankie Mariano has been released from the remainder of his Featherstone Rovers contract by mutual consent.

Mariano arrived at the LD Nutrition Stadium prior to the start of last season and departs with immediate effect.

The decision has been taken to allow the former Wakefield and Castleford player, who has not featured since March, to seek playing opportunities elsewhere.

Scott Wheeldon and Anthony Thackeray look set to make long-awaited returns to Rovers action after being included in head coach John Duffy’s 19-man squad for the Challenge Cup game at Doncaster.

Josh Hardcastle is also back in contention after serving a one-match suspension, with Danny Maskill returning to the Rovers’ pre-match line-up.

Mitch Clark, Harry Newman and Jansin Turgut have been called back to their parent clubs to avoid becoming cup tied, while Ian Hardman is rested.

Clark returns to Fev

Mitch Clark's loan deal at Featherstone Rovers has been extended. 

Castleford Tigers have confirmed that the prop forward will return to the LD Nutrition Stadium following a short spell back at the Tigers. Clark first joined the Rovers on loan in January and has put pen to paper on agreement which will see him stay with Featherstone for the foreseeable future.

Squad for Dewsbury

Jack Ormondroyd looks set to return to Featherstone Rovers action after being included in John Duffy's 19-man squad ahead of Sunday's visit of Dewsbury Rams.

Ormondroyd takes the place of Danny Maskill in the Rovers’ pre-match line-up, this being the only change made following Easter Monday’s 42-0 demolition of Rochdale Hornets.

Chris Ulugia (shoulder) and Jason Walton (knee) have returned to light training, while Scott Wheeldon (bicep), Anthony Thackeray (elbow) and Richard Moore (knee) remain sidelined nursing short-term injuries.

Despite a strong effort, particularly in the second half, Featherstone were defeated for the first time on home soil this season. Martyn Ridyard, Harry Newman and Luke Briscoe were all on the score sheet; Briscoe equalling Paul Newlove's 1993 record of scoring tries in ten successive games.

Rovers brush aside Crusaders

Featherstone ran out easy winners against North Wales Crusaders in their re-arranged Challenge Cup fourth round tie. Luke Briscoe scored four tries with two apiece for Keal Carlile, Matty Wildie and Josh Hardcastle.

The win sets up a fifth round tie against Doncaster.

Squad for North Wales Crusaders

Danny Maskill looks set to make his Featherstone Rovers debut after being included in John Duffy’s King Street Solicitors 19-man Squad ahead of this weekend’s fourth-round Ladbrokes Challenge Cup game at North Wales Crusaders.

Mitch Clark and Mikolaj Oledzki have been withdrawn, having been recalled by parent clubs Castleford and Leeds respectively. Maskill, who appeared in all four of the Rovers’ pre-season triumphs, comes into the squad along with fellow forward Scott Wheeldon.
