Plants are to thank for Wakefield's clean air

Plants are apparently helping Wakefield to have some of the cleanest air in the country.

A study has revealed plants are saving millions of pounds for taxpayers in Wakefield.

Environmental experts - who examined the impact of pollution - found the District has one of the healthiest atmospheres in the country, due to the large number of plants soaking up toxic gasses.

It means lives are being saved through the prevention of lung diseases - and residents pay less for authorities to clean up the air.

Meanewhile - Government data shows the nature in Wakefield saved over nineteen pounds per person in 2015.
