Ridings FM 106.8 is the local radio station for Wakefield and surrounding area, and each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK's radio regulator.

This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community. It is relevant only to "Ridings FM 106.8” covering Wakefield, Pontefract, Castleford, Featherstone, Normanton and Knottingley. You can also listen to us on-line 24 hours a day

Ofcom
Ofcom, the Office of Communications, is the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries, with responsibilities across television, radio, telecommunications and wireless communications services. They have a website at http://www.ofcom.org.uk

Operational information
Transmission: Ridings FM 106.8 is available on 106.8FM across Wakefield and surrounding area. You can also listen to us on-line.
Local production: Ridings FM is locally produced 24 hours a day except for 3 hours on a Sunday when we carry the Big Top 40 UK chart show.

News Bulletin Schedule
Local News bulletins are broadcast Monday to Friday hourly 7am- 6pm, with headlines and sport at 6.30, 7.30, 8.30am and additional sports news at 5 and 6pm. At relevant times additional news bulletins may be broadcast. Bulletins between 7pm and 6am are syndicated and provided by IRN.

At weekends Local Bulletins are broadcast from 8am- 1pm.

Local travel information is broadcast between 6am-10am and 2pm-7pm Monday to Friday, with additional updates throughout the day as and when necessary.

How to compain
Ridings FM is part of the Lincs FM Group and operates a complaints procedure which refers all complaints to the Group Director of Programming for investigation and response. To lodge a complaint please contact Ridings FM using the normal station contact details. Complaints can also be made to Ofcom, for details please click here
