Christmas Lights Switch Ons

We're lighting up the Wakefield District this Christmas, hosting the switch on events in the following places:

Pontefract Town Centre - Monday 27 November

Ridings FM's Leanne Dundas and Ian Laverick will be live in the market place from 4pm.

They'll be joined by local singer Kaci J, Why So Serious, Simon Walker, and Stagecoach Performing Arts plus a Christmas Panto snippet from Saint Giles Pantomime Society.

Local councillors and the Haribo Bear will do the honours with the switch on at 6.30pm.

A Christmas market will be running throughout the day, from 10am to 6pm, with a funfair, donkey rides and entertainment for all the family.

Castleford Town Centre - Tuesday 28 November

Ridings FM's Warren Miller and Ian Laverick will be joined by Castleford singer and X Factor star Jack Walton alongside Deputy Council Leader, Cllr Denise Jeffery and local community groups in the precinct. 

The entertainment starts at 4pm, Jack will be singing live alongside performances from Mickey Johnson and Wendy Raynors Dance Group. The Christmas Lights go on at 5.45pm.

There will also be a Christmas market throughout the day, from 10am to 6pm, with children’s rides, donkey rides and lots of family entertainment.
