Wild about Wakefield

Open Country is heavily reliant on our fantastic group of volunteers and we are keen to find some new folk to help with our various activities in Wakefield. We need volunteers to help guide visually impaired people, to push wheelchairs on walks and to help the day run smoothly on our conservation work days. Some of our volunteers come along twice a week to make a real difference with our conservation work parties; some dedicate one evening a year to coming riding with our tandem club; but all are invaluable to the organisation. If you have a passion for the countryside and an empathy for people with disabilities, we’d love to hear from you. Our first Sighted Guide Training session is on Tuesday 6th February, 6-8pm at St Catherine’s Community Centre in Wakefield. The course will improve your confidence and skills in guiding visually impaired people. Please contact us to book a place.
